Formed in 2005, Swedish rock act Stone Antica was first described as a local funk/rock band inspired by bands from the 70´s and the 90’s. Over the years their sound has developed into something more unique with rougher riffs and louder songs, but the funky roots can still be heard in their music. This quartet from Mjölby consists of vocalist Martin Sommansson, guitarist Edvin Egir, bassist Jon Liedberg and drummer David Sätermo.
As many others, Stone Antica falls under the category ”one of those struggling basement bands”. Since the very beginning they have been writing and recording songs intensively, but it was not until 2008 that they released the first EP, titled “A Goddess Kiss” under their own label. From this six-track record emerged songs such as “Can’t Get Out” and “The Grace of a Goddess Kiss”, which were played frequently on local radio stations.
Stone Anticas self-titled debut album was released on the 1st of September, 2011 and the single ”They’ll Strike You Out” has been played on nationwide radio such as Bandit Rock, Sveriges Radio P4 and East FM.
At this moment they are recording 5 new songs in Soundtrade Studios – Stockholm, which are planned to be released sometime this year. So stay tuned and follow us on Facebook and Instagram for gigs and updates!
Take care – Stone Antica
